My spirituality has evolved, and now I work with both Irish & Hindu goddesses, whom I collectively call Goddess or Devi. Specificially, I worship Brigid & Durga. They are extremely powerful goddesses, and I am humbled by their presence in my life.
On Monday, I will be dedicating myself to Goddess, and I have written my ritual / yoga practice which I share below.
BrigidDurga
**Consecrate self & circle then call the corners*
Guardians of the Watchtowers of the East, [guardian spirits of Air], I do summon, stir and call you up, to witness these rites and guard this circle, and I bid you Hail and Welcome.
Guardians of the Watchtowers of the South, [guardian spirits of Fire], I do summon, stir and call you up, to witness these rites and guard this circle, and I bid you Hail and Welcome.
Guardians of the Watchtowers of the West, [guardian spirits of Water], I do summon, stir and call you up, to witness these rites and guard this circle, and I bid you Hail and Welcome.
Guardians of the Watchtowers of the North, [guardian spirits of Earth], I do summon, stir and call you up, to witness these rites and guard this circle, and I bid you Hail and Welcome.
*stand in front of altar*
Sisters of fire, sun and moon Join my circle! I bow to you, Mama Brigid. Om Dom Durgayei Namaha.
Hear me, dear Goddess, dear Devi. Hear me, Mama Brigid, Ma Durga. I invoke you, dear Goddess, dear Devi. I invoke you, Mama Brigid, Ma Durga.
Celtic Mama & Hindu Ma, please Join my circle and guide me.
*practice yoga in front of altar inside circle* *mountain, forward fold, downward dog, table, cat, cow, staff, seated forward fold, savasana* *meditate*
I offer myself to thee to build with me and to do with me as thy will. Relieve me of the bondage of self that I may better do thy will. Take away my difficulties, that victory over them may bear witness to those I would help of thy power, thy love and thy way of life. May I do your will always, O, Goddess, O, Devi!
**Meditatively eat the red foods & milk, leaving some for Goddess & Devi**
*Speak to Brigid & Durga* *Write or create art if so inspired*
Thank you, Mama Brigid, Ma Durga! Thank you, O’ Goddess, O’Devi!
*close the circle*
